Credit Repair Process FAQ
Q: How long should I remain enrolled?
A: For the best results in credit repair and credit building, it’s recommended to stay enrolled for at least 3-12 months depending on your credit file.
Q: When can I expect to see results?
A: Most clients see results within the first 30-45 days. However, outcomes depend on various factors, including adding positive credit accounts (if advised), making timely payments, maintaining low credit utilization, and not applying for new credit during the process. If you do not see results within 90 days, I offer a 100% money-back guarantee.
Q: What is the credit monitoring requirement? A: Smart Credit monitoring costs $29.99 per month, and your account must remain active during enrollment for me to effectively work on your credit and provide updates. If the account is inactive at the time of your update, you will be unenrolled from the program.
Q: Am I required to sign a contract?
A: There is no contract, and you can cancel services at any time. However, you will need to sign a client agreement before I can start providing services.
Q: When will I receive updates on my disputes?
A: Clients receive updates regarding their disputes every 30-45 days.
Q: Can I apply for credit cards during credit repair?
A: No, we recommend waiting until our services are complete. If you don’t have any credit cards, you may apply for one during the process. (For building purposes if advised)
Q: Will I get weekly updates?
A: We do not provide weekly updates, but you can use apps like Credit Karma or the Experian app for updates. You may see updates on there before you receive anything via mail or before we pull your report.
Q: How can I verify that letters are being sent?
A: Check the comments section of each account in Smart Credit/IdentityIQ/MyFreeScoreNow; it should indicate "consumer disputes account." You’ll also receive notifications through our credit tracker mobile app.
Q: What happens if I miss a payment on my payment plan?
A: All services will be terminated immediately, and no further letters or updates will be provided. I do give you a 3 day grace period.
Q: Can anything speed up the credit repair process?
A: No, the credit bureaus control the speed of dispute responses, and I do not influence their timelines.
Q: Should I send you all correspondence letters I receive?
A: Yes, please upload these images via our mobile app or client portal.
Q: What if I receive a stall letter?
A: I will re-dispute all affected accounts. This is normal and this does not mean that the bureaus are not working on your disputes. This is a common tactic used to discourage you from disputing again.
Q: What should I do if I want to become a homeowner?
A: Focus on building your savings (aim for $5,000-$20,000) and minimizing debt to improve your debt-to-income ratio. Credit is just one aspect of the homeownership process.
Q: What does it mean if I haven’t received any mail about my disputes?
A: I cannot control the credit bureaus' mailings; I can only manage what we send out. We continue disputing on time.
Q: Can I repair my credit myself?
A: Yes, but it can be challenging! While it’s possible to tackle credit repair on your own, navigating the complexities of your credit report can be difficult.
Please remember an account can be modified, updated, or deleted per FCRA standards.
